Jump to Recipe

When Kale was all the rage a few summers ago, the only way I could get my family to eat this vegetable regularly (and willingly) was hidden in a smoothie. Then, I discovered another way. These delish Kale Chips have made healthy kale something we enjoy!

Making this is super easy. It only uses 3 ingredients and takes about 20 minute TOTAL to get it from veggie to chip. You take a bunch of kale, remove the woody bits, tear into bite sizes, toss in olive oil, add a pinch of salt and pop into the oven for 15 minutes. That’s it!

Let’s get baking!

Ingredients for Quick & Easy Kale Chips

1 bunch Kale
1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
½ tsp kosher salt (to taste)
fresh ground pepper (optional)

Prepare a large parchment line baking tray, and also optional, use a Salad Spinner to help dry the kale leaves.

Prepping the Kale

Let’s start by preheat oven to 350°F. Then, wash the kale and dry thoroughly -use clean dry kitchen towels.

Next, cut out the stem and woody parts. Then, tear the kale into bite size pieces and dry again using towels, or a salad spinner. Place the kale pieces on parchment lined tray. Lightly drizzle olive oil and sprinkle kosher salt, (and fresh ground pepper or any other spices or flavoring) all over the kale. Toss to combine.

Baking and Done!

Finally, bake in preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until Kale is crispy on the edges. Remove and enjoy!

Seasoning Ideas for Quick & Easy Kale Chips

You can customize the flavors of your chips. Some ideas:

  • Nutritional cheese
  • Smoked paprika
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Granulated garlic
  • Grated cheese
  • Everything Bagel seasoning
  • Bacon bits
  • Toss in truffle oil instead of olive oil

It’s important to dry the leaves completely so they will be crisp up nicely in the oven. Any water left on the leaves will steam the leaves and make them soggy.

Notes:

I remember reading about Kale being a superfood that is chock full of vitamins, anti-oxidants and various things that are good for me. I needed a reminder and found several articles to remind me why we need to keep eating this leafy green =>
